This page explains the cookies and other tracking data SriBazaar uses, and how you can control the parts that are within your control.

Essential cookies and sessions

We use a session cookie to keep you signed in, protect forms from cross-site attacks, and remember basic choices such as your selected district. These are required for the site to function and cannot be turned off.

View counts on listings

When a listing is opened, we record a view so sellers can see how much interest it is receiving. To keep this number accurate, views are de-duplicated using your session or account for a short window, so refreshing the page or reopening the same listing repeatedly does not inflate the count.

Data used for recommendations

For signed-in users, we may also record which listings and categories were viewed, and approximately how long each page was viewed for. This helps us build better search results and recommendations over time. This data is linked to your account, is never shown to sellers or other users, and can be turned off at any time.

Search suggestions

When you type in the search bar, what you have typed is sent to our own servers so we can return matching listings, categories and popular searches. It is not shared with any third party, and no advertising network is involved. A suggestion is only ever something you could also find by browsing the site.

If personalisation is on, your suggestions may also include listings you recently viewed and categories you return to often. These rows are worked out for you alone, are never visible to sellers or to other users, and are checked against the current listing rules each time — so a listing that has been hidden or removed, or whose seller has been suspended, stops being suggested immediately.

Your last few searches are also kept in this browser's own storage so they can be offered back to you. They stay on your device, are never sent to us, and are removed as soon as you turn personalisation off, clear them from the suggestions panel, or clear your browser data.

Separately, we count how many times each search term is used across the whole site so that common searches can be suggested to everyone. These are totals only — no account, session or device is recorded against a search term, so this counting continues whether or not you have personalisation on.

Your choices

Personalized recommendation tracking can be turned on or off from Profile > Privacy. Turning it off stops new recommendation data from being collected without affecting the view counts your own or other listings receive. Most browsers also allow cookies to be blocked or deleted entirely, though this may affect features such as staying signed in.

Turning personalisation off also stops personalised search suggestions and clears the recent searches held in this browser. You can clear that list on its own at any time using the Clear button beside "Recent searches" in the suggestions panel.
